We received these sassy blocks as a gift and they are a welcomed change of pace. Our daughter loves to take them out of the tray and then put them back in. Reading the blocks to her is entertaining for us but be aware that they can make you laugh hard enough to pee your pants. Parents that are already worried about edging out the SAT and LSAT competition should appreciate these blocks too. They will have your kid spouting out words like Zamboni and uvula in no time. They offer mental stimulation for adults as well. For example they will have the sharp-eyed parent pondering such existential mysteries as “Who are the Christian Northeast, and why do they like Fred?” There are some gems of free association embedded in the keywords as well- my wife and I definitely want to party with the soul who put together “power saw” and “pants” on the P block.
The quality is impeccable as well. They’ve already survived a dunking in the dog’s water bowl and some vigorous chewing and throwing. The sanding was pleasantly complete, so there have been no splinters. Overall they are a great retro toy, built like toys used be built but with a modern edgy sense of humor- the sort of thing you’d expect to get from an Amish craftsman if he’d just finished six months touring hash bars and red light districts in eastern Europe. If you don’t believe us then check out the Christian Northeast website for more views of the blocks. http://www.christiannortheast.com/xyz-blocks/
